I mean, if the point of using Linux is to use a free OS, just use Steam OS. It's a modified version of Linux IIRC, and it supports DirectX (I think).

Steam OS does not support directX.

 

WINE currently supports up to DX9, but DX11 is currently in the works.

No no, I want to do software development and Linux is a good platform for that, of course if it's free that's great but I also like the customisation and benefitting usage of commands. I'm planning to install Arch Linux. I've heard that DirectX11 is coming to Wine and Crossover?

It's being worked on, but it may be that it never becomes usable for most games. It's too early at the moment to tell whether it will actually become useful.
