Q9650 RAM Issues

Go to solution Solved by Biggest Michael,

Well for what ever reason. Clearing out the CMOS and to NOT CHANGE A THING! It all works.

I wound up taking it all apart from my case and I put in the 4 sticks and BAM! It POSTed with all 8gb of ram.

When I decide to do another test it failed to post. That's when I bridged the CLS_CMOS jumper and it turned right back on with out an issue.

When I change ANYTHING in the bios and save and quit it does a force off and turns back on and then back off and once more back on and in previous history with this mobo it would then post and go to boot windows but it didn't and I then re-cleared the CMOS and when it POSTed I turned it off and worked on cable management then peaced it all back together. Now when I turn it off, I hope it starts. :P

Hello there.... I've recently upgraded from a Intel Core 2 E8600 to a Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 on my Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R Rev 2.0 and I have 8gb of DDR2 800Mhz (4x2gb).

When I finally finished inserting the CPU and heatsinc and went to turn it on, I never got the post.

This is the ram configuration I have tested.

2 Sticks of Ram
Y1 R1 = Yes
Y1 Y2 = No
R1 R2 = No
Y2 R2 = No

1 Stick of Ram
Y1 = Yes
Y2 = No
R1 = Yes W/O Screen
R2 = No

I have teamviewer installed for unattended access so when Windows boots up, I can remotely login. I had it open on my phone and I saw that my desktop was on and booted into Windows 10.

I think its a uirk with LGA 775 in general. Motherboards based around the non enthusiast chipsets really hates running with all 4 RAM slots filled (and are even more picky with DDR2 1066). I had the same problem with my P5 Turbo and Deluxe (they stopped screwing up suddenly, so I don't know what was wrong).

I know what you mean. I had problems just booting up way earlier last year when I swapped out the E8400 for the E8600. But from then on, everything was smooth sailing.
