not sure how the psu mount works either, but the hollowed out spot is for the front intake fan

Keep in mind, there's that big aluminum thing in the back that isn't functional at all. It looks like the PSU sits on top of that box behind the "air flow" hole, an can only be mounted with the fan drawing air from the case which is great because the case is badly in need of more intakes... wait, something about that seemed wrong...
