NVME SSD RAID!!!

Hi there everyone, so the other day I was watching [The Fastest Storage EVER – HOLY $H!T Ep 14] and i surprized; I know that you can connect several SATA/SAS drives to a RAID controller card which goes into the PCIE slot but I didn't know there were RAID cards for U.2 drives. So can you name the one in the video and others as well because I want to know how to set up an eight -or at least four- Intel 750 series 1.2TB NVME SSD in RAID.

they arent using a raid card, there using software raid.

 

You can setup up the drives in software raid on your system. But i wouldn't do that and its not worth the money.

But they were connecting the drives physically to the card so they must be using hardware RAID. And take money out of the equation because if I care about it I wouldn't think of Intel 750 series drives in the first place.

thats not a raid card, it just splits out pcie.

 

Just because you have a card doesn't mean that you have hard ware raid. You can have a hba aswell

What do you mean by splits... like turning one PCIE slot to multiple ones?... and what is HBA card and can i use it to connect all 8 or 4 SSD's, plz explain more.

That card just turns the 16x pcie slot in our many smaller ones. Hba is like a raid card without raid. You use it to connect drives to the motherboard. 

 

 

What are you trying to do for most people and uses a single 2.5 ssd is fine  b

I am trying to do a RAID 10 of 8 or at least 4 Intel 1.2TB NVME SSDs, what card you recommend?

why do you need that much ssd raid?

 

Why no a single bigger faster ssd, like this one https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIABVR56H4497 Thats is over 2x the speed.

 

That card they were using was propertiery and need motherboard support and you can just buy it for any board. Id get a single bigger faster ssd.

OOMG!!! I am now sooo excited, I didn't know that there was a better SSD than Intel's one but this one is sooo badass. And I want  the best performance money can buy so that's why I went for the RAID, but after seeing this I want to make RAID with many of it... so how can I achieve that.. I want THE best performance I can get..

Your basically wasting money. You won't notice the difference on a desktop as you won't even be able to use that many iops. I'd just get a 960evo. You won't notice any drive faster than that in your desktop.

I don't care about money I just want the best of the best even if I wouldn't benefit from it
