Network admin or sys admin?

So i wanna get into the world of IT at it seems is the only thing tech related my city offer in terms of jobs 

 

But i don't really know where to look to start learning on my own about it i just saw some videos looks like being a sys admin is more heavy than netwrok admin and i have some experience in the IT field in 2011 (paid internships) and i wanna come back into that but i wanna comeback with actual skills 

 

I do remember some networking stuff and i thing it will be the best thing to start with in term of pc tech stuff im pretty rock solid and yeah i wonder if someone can guide me into what books to read or what videos to watch

If you want to get in to networking study up on CCNA, then later once your in the IT industry work on getting your CCNP.

 

Systems Administration is a little tricky at the moment since the job/industry is currently going through a massive change. Skills you need now and in to the future is writing Infrastructure as Code and strong configuration and automation knowledge.

 

Edit:

Even networking is going through some significant changes due to Software Defined Networking but all the core traditional knowledge is required and very valuable.

I would personally recommend Mike Meyer's videos for the CompTIA A+ and N+ exams (and take the exams). It provides a very solid base to work on. 

 

For networking, you'll want to look into CCNA and the further Cisco certifications. 

 

Lynda.com is probably one of the best sources for this. Mike Meyer's series is on there.

Pluralsight is also supposed to be good, no idea which is better.
