F@H CPU Use

I just put F@H on my old Dell to try and contribute, and it's only hovering around 50% CPU usage. It's a Hyper-Threaded 2.4GHz Socket 478 Pentium 4, and it has 4x128MB DDR333 sticks. It's working on FahCore 0xa4. And it is set to "Full," so that eliminates that as a cause.

 

Just kinda curious if this is normal.

I don't know if folding is really optimized for really old CPUs. try tweaking around with the options like disable highly optimized CPU code. Also it could be your slow ram that is causing the CPU to not reach its full performance.

 

I don't really know much about folding other then it works for me.

By default F@H uses the number of cores -1, you can change that in the settings. Configure>Slots>double click CPU>change to the number of cores you have.

It's using both cores, I set the priority to high in task manager, and I swapped out the processor for the beefier (and hotter) 2.8GHz HT Pentium 4.
