problems scanning my network

hello guys i'm a newbie in the world of hacking and i try to learn from my problems , so thanks for your help 

my problem is that when i try to scan using nmap in my kali linux laptop i can only detect the wifi connected hosts + the default gateway  when i use my computer i get nothing except a 192.168.1.30 address wich is the pc's own address  , also i can't ping between my directely connected pc and my directelly connected wifi hosts , is this normal ?
