Hello!

My name is kitsou aka Alex!

I'm new to the community, and i have questions because i'm planning on building a gaming pc!

So first my budget is around 2250€,

because i'm doing a whole setup (mic, monitor, keyb, mice, desk, chair, etc...)

And i'm hoping to get good performance and esthetics.

At least a bit...

# QUESTIONS/ COMMENTS ABOUT COMPONENTS WILL BEGIN WITH ~ #

So far i sticked to this but its a lil' bit overpriced

i7-6700K (4.0GHz) ~ it's fine i guess

Asus z170-DELUXE ~ does the crystal sound thing will improve all the audio? or just if i plug something into the mobos audio card?

~ is this mobo worth it with just a wifi card and audio card implemented?

DDR4  Corsair Vengeance LPX 3200 mhz 2x8 16gb ttl CAS 16 ~ i guess its fine

NZXT Kraken x62 ~ its a little bit overpriced but is it worth it? the swag?

GeForce GTX 1080 ~ dont make me change that, its not gonna happen x)

Samsung SSD 850 EVO 500gb ~ i just THINK that begin with a 500gb ssd for os and then buying a 1tb one is a great idea (because hdds suck ?)

NZXT H440 and Corsair RM750x ~ i think the h440 is nuts insane and shit etc..., i have no clue about how psu's work so someone help me with that please

windows 10 ~

#BTW# i actually want the cables to look nice so cablemod extentions included

             and nzxt hue+

so for now its Insanely overpriced and i want it to 2250€ / 2400 usd (aka)

#OR ELSE you could post your own 2000$ build suggestions (very much appreciated)

THANKS EVERYONE IN ADVANCE!

i didn't plan overclocking the cpu, honestly didn't even thought about it

The K at end tells you if an intel cpu is overclockable. In the future you might want to overclock to squeeze every last drop of performance out of your cpu but you are sure you dont want that then you dont need a K cpu. The motherboard can be changed as well in that case.. and every mobo has an audio card as far as i know. You should have it connected with an ethernet cable rather than wifi and if you for some reason have to connect briefly to wifi for some reason you can connect it through your phone or just buy a 10 euro usb thingy that does the same thing.

Theyre not released yet but they sound pretty promising. In your position i would wait but if you dont want to look further into it the i7 is quite perfect.
If youre only gonna game on it you could swap the i7 with an i5.

Even if he doesn't overclock you still see a reasonable gain from the CPUs higher clock speed.

The unfortunate thing is that it doesn't include a cooler, so the overall cost is higher if he uses the stock 6700 one.

WiFi isn't that bad if you get a decent set up. I wouldn't recommend one of the cheap USB dongles though, there is definitely a difference between the cheapest and even a mid tier one. The lower end ones are shit for anything requiring a decent amount of thru put.

Would be handy to know what you gonna do for use scenarios besides gaming if any at all.

Despite not OC ing right away, stay unlocked, no matter if you stay Intel or possibly wait for Ryzen. A OC down the road can save you the extra money you spend now, and make this platform last 5-6 years +. I expect you choose the 6700k because it's cheaper then the 7700K, but if price is same might just aswell go with the newest stuff. Same goes for mobo and just in case: a Skylake CPU will also work on Kaby boards. Onboard sound is good enough these days, so no real need for audio cards.

RAM ammount is fine, but you can save money by taking a lower speed like 2400 or 2666, unless price difference is marginal. The improvement gain on the total picture is in general not worth it if there is any at all, and even then it could most likely be better spend on other important components.

The x62 is a very good AIO allthough very pricy currently. It is marginally better then the old gen x61, so if you want to cut down on price that might be a option. But a good high end aircooler like the Scythe Fuma is a lot cheaper allthough it has less potential then a high end AIO like the x62. It can still be a very good substitute for a high OC in the future.

You can save money on a lower wattage PSU. A 550 or 650 W will also do aslong as it is a decent quality brand and type. Check the PSU tier list and don't go lower then 3, but the RM X variants are good PSU's.

HDD don't suck, we have used them for years without SSD. A SSD is very helpfull as maindrive for OS, to some degree games and other applications that might benefit from the speed, but a SSD/HDD combo is very viable still for mass storage. So unless money is no problem you can also consider that and start with a 250GB SSD as main drive. But all data on SSD is nice obviously.

Allthough not as fast as the 850 the later released 750 variants are almost as fast, but for a better price. In your case something you probably won't notice. Same can be said for the Crucial MX300 series SSD that is currently even nicer priced. So take your pick. But consider these if you want to save money and still ahve very decent SSDs.

The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.

I expected the stock clocks to be the same... Nice
The cheap wifi dongle would only be used in case he wanted to move the pc for whatever reason and not as a permanent solution.

like i said i will use it for gaming and streaming aswell as doing some montage (need fast rendering),

so ur saying that i should go with 6770 K to get the build going for longer?

can you suggest a good board for around 200$ ? obviously 1151 and atx.

in YOUR OPINION should i go with 500gb ssd for os and sum games and add 1tb ssd later.

or go with 256gb ssd for os and stay with 4tb hdd. ?

the pc will be in a spot permanently (so far...)

so just a ethernet cable going to be lit

ssd for the os and one or two games that would benefit from it. Photos videos movies and stuff on a reliable hdd and youre golden. Imo...

So there is no need for wifi. About the sounds youre hearing i believe its electrical interference and i hear it too from time to time. I believe a mobo with that pricetag should be free of that but i cant say for sure im just speculating. Its probably solvable with a dedicated soundcard but you shouldnt have to pay more just for that.

I would invest in a good ups as well since youre gonna be streaming but it depends.. Do you have power outages or voltage drops frequently?

if u mean power outages like no power at all in all the house, then no not often, even rarely

Look at this

cpu: i7-6700K -- ~340 usd
mobo: MSI Z170A Krait Gaming 3X -- ~130 usd
ssd: SAMSUNG 850 EVO 2.5" 250GB -- ~100 usd
hdd: Western digital 4tb hdd for storage -- ~150 usd
gpu: Gtx 1080 -- ~550 usd
ram: 16 gb ram as far as it is ddr4 youre good -- ~100 usd
psu: EVGA SuperNOVA 750 -- ~100 usd
I dont know anything about water cooling other than its only really needed when overclocking. If you do watercool it you should double check that it fits with the ram installed.. This goes for aircoolers as well.

Total cost without cooler is about 1500 usd

I only changed the mobo and storage and added a psu.

With that build youll have around 800 euros for peripherals and a desk. If you include a monitor the price goes up significantly.
I'd spend another 30 usd for this cpu cooler until you decide you want to overclock.. Cooler Master Hyper 212 EVO

Yeah a 6700k or 7700k is a good option then for your needs.

Yes a unlocked (OCable) CPU can last you longer. See it like this: there are people currently still gaming on their old 2500k and 2600k because they can OC it and by doing so increase the useable lifespan. So a platform (CPU, mobo and RAM) can be a 1 time only investment until you reach certain limits. In general people upgrade because they reach CPU performance limits. CPU needs havn't grown the fastest, but it still grows and personally I think it will grow much faster comming years because of games, VR but also hardware itself becoming more demanding. The high end GPU's like a 1080 need a fast enough CPU to keep them fed with the info it needs.

So if you have a locked variant (that are most of the time also slightly less clocked out of the box) you will have much less headroom to work with. Will maybe be good for now, but for gamers that on average swap GPU's with 1-2 gens in 3-4 years + games that become more and more intensive, you could run into the issue that it then isn't enough. A simple not to extreme OC is then a free tool that can give you just what you need. With higher end stuff like this and even returning the old second hand and sell it, upgrading to a new platform is more expensive then the cost you have now and might bring little extra's besides the possibly better CPU that you actually use. So in the long run this is a cheaper alternative that gets more useable lifespan of your platform.

Aslong as a board has all connections and features you actually need and is of a reputable brand like MSI, ASUS etc, you are good to go. A mobo has to set them apart by feature sets, but have in general less to no impact on performance. So it would be more a choice of looks and preferences then. Can't really decide that for you :)

Well if money is no issue and you think 1500GB is all the storage you need, by all means put it all on SSD. Just mentioned it if you needed a accpetable method of freeing some dosh on your budget for other parts that you might require.

The object of life is not to be on the side of the majority, but to escape finding oneself in the ranks of the insane.
