I'm a first-time overclocker who wants to overclock his AMD Phenom II X4 945 to at least 4 GHz. It's a Deneb chip with a 95W TDP. A step by step would be great but some tips would also be just as helpful. Thank you.

Here are the specs of my computer-

Processor- AMD Phenom II X4 945 Deneb 95W TDP

RAM- 8GB Samsung chips

Power Supply- EVGA 600W

Cooler- Cooler Master Hyper T4

Video Card- Radeon HD 7570

Thanks,

F4tal1ty

Make sure your mobo is up to the task, and your cooler is rather weak.

Here, its an slightly different CPU, but the same principles should apply:

I have two fans on the cooler if that changes anything and my mobo has overclocking settings I just don't know what any of it really means

Thanks,

2 Fans or 1 fan is not going to help with a basic cooler. Maybe aw couple of degrees delta, but that's it. Check your motherboards specs, since older AMD processors are very power hungry you really need a mobo that can handle the power in a stable manner.

The board only has a single 4 pin connector for cpu power

That says absolutely nothing -.- The really important bit is the power phases. The number of EPS connectors is only a very rough indication
