Does anyone have experience modding encrypted android games?

I play a few games on mobile and I decompiled an apk, but the code is impossible to read. Most of the code got replaced with like serialized variable names and stuff so it's really hard to trace what does what.

You need to decompile the java class files to actual Java code.

Oh, no what I have is java code. It's just been modified to make it hard to read by replacing variable names. There are literally hundreds of classes and at least 100,000 lines of code so I was looking for information on how others have gone about it.
