Huge performance drops on Asus Rog gl551 jm

specs:

i7 4710hq

gtx 860m

16gb ram

 

used to be able to run cod bo2 on ultra at 60 fps smoothly, and gta v on high at 40 fps ,and bf1 on medium 50-60 fps, but out of the blue it started dropping to 20fps, i had to reduce settings to low and put the resolution scale to 75 to get 30fps smoothly. i have no record of previous temperatures but now i get 86 Celsius on max load.

any feedback would be greatly appreciated

Maybe open up your laptop and reapply thermal paste.
