Is ASUS 4x4 802.11AC Wireless-AC3100 PCIe Adapter a good wifi card? Do you guys have any suggestions?

If you can avoid it, then you should give a wired connection a try (someone will say it)

Run Ethernet if you can. That card in particular seems like overkill for most use cases

Depends on your use case.

If you're just looking to connect to the internet then it's most likely overkill unless you have a gigabit connection from your ISP.

If you're looking to transfer files between PCs, like a NAS or home server, then you'd need one on both ends unless it's connected directly to the router via ethernet and in that case I'd advise to find a way to hardwire your desktop to it as wireless file transfers can be flaky at times.

Ok then is there a card suitable for just connecting to the internet? Suggestions?

What is the download/upload speed of your internet connection?

EDIT:
Also what kind of adapter are you looking for? A USB dongle, PCI-e adapter, etc?

Pfff there are lots and lots of options. I have used the wn8200nd from TPlink with good results. My grandma uses the single antenna version. But there many more out there. Still I would recommend ethernet if you can
