GTX 970

Hi everyone! 

 

My friend gave me his old 970 (msi and the exact same as I have in my system now) and it doesn't work- well kinda 

 

the fans turn on, so do the LEDS and the gpu gets warm, but no display. I have an idea (99.9% it won't work but worth a shot) could I try sli it with my working card that outputs a display? I have an SLI bridge and a high wattage power supply. I'm away ATM but I'll be back soon

see if the card is detected by your OS before you try anything fancy

if not, then make sure it has power, re-seat it, etc.

if it is, then SLI them and it might do something.

How can I check if it's detected or not if I can't see anything on screen

plug the display into the one that is working

Go into your BIOS and check the Board Explorer (MSI) or equivalent to find if the PCIe slot is detecting the GPU.

GPU isn't showing up, any ideas?

Does it work in any of your slots? Does GPU-Z detect the GPU?

I'll check now 

EDIT- One only shows up (The one that is obviously working)

Clean install of drivers. Had that issue myself when a card I know works disappeared.
