MY hdd doesnt work

I just installed a seagate 2tb nas drive into my pc.I have the sata cable p[lugged in and it seems to detect in bios but in windows it doesnt show up after plugging it in do i have to change settings or something to make it work in windows?

Have you tried going to disk manager in windows and assigning it a letter/partition thing?

what is that I've never done this before so not sure what im doing really...

You'll probably have to enable it through disk management in windows. Go to start, type diskmgmt.msc, and a window showing a list of disks (and under that, a "picture" of how each disk is split up, or "partitioned") will pop up. click on the partition (should be a box showing about 2 tb or 2000 gb) that has a large black section titled "unallocated space". right click it, and select "new simple volume". from there, click through the wizard, assigning a drive letter and setting a size (for most cases its fine to say the max it can go), and you're off.
