Hey guys,

Right now I play games on a laptop Haswell i7 with integrated graphics (TF2, Civ 5, Portal 2 mostly) and want to upgrade my gaming experience. I already have a monitor and various other accessories such as a keyboard, mouse and a headset.

1.

        ~650 USD, Rhode Island

2.

        Want to play titles like:

                Witcher 3

                Doom

                Civ 6

                Bioshock (All)

                Skyrim

                Various newer racing games

                Max out TF2 (lol)

I will also be doing programming for school/projects involving machine learning but it is very elementary (not a big emphasis on this part as my current laptop can handle the stuff I do)

3.

        None

4.

Webcam (any cheap suggestions?, mostly need it for the mic, very occasionally for the camera)

Here is the build that I came up with: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/HBvxtJ

The main worry I have is the cheap motherboard I chose.

Thanks in advance!

It doesn't look too bad.  If you can afford the extra cost the 470 8gb would be a great change.  Also with ryzen coming out in 3 weeks if you can wait you should wait.

Yeah I'm supposed to be building this in about a month.

@Droidbot So the mobo is fine? Like it wont go bad after a month or something stupid like that?

if you can cram an MSI or Gigabyte board in the price it'd be more recommended from me, but the ASROCK board should be fine.

idk

Why would I go from a 470 to 1050ti? Lol not doing that.... but thanks for the help anyway!

extra ram lol.

Tbh i'd wait a bit as ram is kinda high in price rn. I've seen DDR4 8gb ram at 35 dollars, and 16 GB DDR4 at 60~

It'd offer more possibilities in getting parts or save money.

Im sure 8gb is enough for now with room to upgrade later. The GPU is a lot more important in my opinion.

500w evga?

its a low cost sweetspot build, so some compromises needs to be made.

That's almost $800. My budget was stated ~650 USD.

save a bit more and wait for ryzen, go for a sweetspot build spend a bit extra.
