gtx 960 upgrade

I have a Z97 motherboard and a EVGA GTX 960 sc edition 4GB.  the card worked fine i was planning on upgrading to the 1070 in the near future i must stay with team green as i use programs that are cua optimized and i use a nvidia shield from time to time.  my question is that a few days ago i was getting some artifacting when on the internet just basic stuff but i couldnt explain it.  i did some ram testing and they seemed fine did some Aida 64 stability testing on a 4.6 ghz 4670k and it ran great.  so i figured it must be the GPU i jumped into heaven with directx11 everything maxed and it held 35 fps no problem at great temps for 20 minutes before blue screening.  just for fun i jumped inot aida after a reboot did another stability and everything was great then tested the gpu in aida and the computer immediatly froze.  

 

my question is do you think that the GPU is the culprit and secondly would you upgrade now or wait a little to see if prices drop with the anticipated release of the 1080ti.  i have some old AMD cards i can use and my blade stealth should be back from RMA in a week or two i had a bad fan on it so i can wait. let me know if you guys think the prices will be falling soon or if there are any other resting you would do.

Why not get a 1060 6GB now? It is $200 cheaper after all

If he can get a 1070, it would be much better, BUT, if it is urgent, a 1060 6GB isn't bad.

IMO the 1060 is not large enough upgrade and there have been tests showing that the additional 3gb is wasted most of the time.  The card is it powerful enough for sufficient 1440p gaming and at 1080p you won't use it pretty much at all.  Only time 6gb would be used is during rendering then I'm paying more and not getting the horsepower just the memory.  When I upgrade it's a 1070 or better I just want to know if anyone thinks I should wait based on pricing right now I can get a 1070 for around $365

Not urgent my processor pulling its weight is working but if the price isn't going to fluctuate I may as well as pull the trigger money isn't a big deal the card is worth it I just have a feeling it's going to drop in price soon and wanted everyone's opinion

I do need to stay with team green I'm not a mad hater or anything.  The 480 is not on the same level as the 1070 in power like at all so i wouldn't even consider it but if vega had any DVD rip and h264 accelerators then also be able to use autodesk and adobe programs.  Nvidia is plug n play with these it's awesome and I haven't heard anything regarding vega software
