Update - PC doesn't start anymore

I have a problem. I wanted to buy a new video card but my old case is too small, so I bought a new case in advance. An antec gx500. After I took everything out and put it in the new case hit the power button and it powers on for a fraction of a second and then shuts down. After I saw this I thought it's something wrong with the new case.

So I took everything out and put it back in the old case. With the exact issue. I had a spare psu so I tested that as well, the same.

I think I fried or somehow short-circuited the mobo. Is that even possible by literally doing nothing wrong when I took it apart?

If it's the mobo is it possible for it to take other components with it?

Do you have any ideas on how to fix this issue? Or what could've caused it?

And yes the raizors were installed. Sorry English isn't my native tongue.

So you got a new gpu and put it in... Does your psu have enough power to supply all the components in your system? Please specify the amount of watts your psu can output.

"May your frame rates be high and your temperatures low"

I misread titles/posts way too often--correct me if I don't.

It's always best to use anti-static straps to protect from ESD. Does it start then turn off everytime you push the power button?

yes. I press the power button turns on for a fraction of a second then off. Everytime I press the power it's the same.

@Jasun I don't have the gpu yet. I bought the case in advance.

Try this..

Unplug the 4/8 CPU Pin and the M/B 20/24 Pin connector from the Motherboard, wait for 1 minute

and then replug it again.. (make sure the PSU's switch is off)

After that.. turn on your PSU's switch to on and wait for like 10 secs.

And try to turn your PC on again..

Might aswell take out the CMOS battery while hes at it.

Ok I've tried unplugging the power and the battery, I even tried with an older video card that I laying around.

But no luck. Same issue. Starts and shutdown immediately.

I've look at the mobo it looks fine but even so I don't think I would be able to see if it's broken.

Is it possible it took out the processor with it or could the processor be dead?

I see. Thanks for the reply.

I've even tried without the gpu and get the beeps of telling that I don't have a gpu and then it shuts down.

You can turn on your PC without gpu.. and I think that's not what the beeps stand for..

try this :

maybe it could help.

Try switching RAM slots.

The CPU should have no issues.

and also is there a strange sound or anything when you're turning on your PC and suddenly shuts down?

I've tried the ram. No luck.

Honestly the best way I can describe the problem is like it can't hold power. Two years ago I've had a similar problem with my monitor. When I turned it on the indicator led would flash for a second and it wouldn't display the image.

The problem back then was dead capacitors.

And judging from what I see now with my pc it looks similar. Granted the mobo is pretty old.

But that would be one hell of a coincidence for the capacitors on the mobo to die just as I changed the case.

I think I screwed up something when putting back but honestly can't think of what.

Update time. It really was a coincidence. I found someone with an identical motherboard and changed it, and it worked however I didn't keep the motherboard from the guy. I also went to a PC repair shop, and indeed the capacitors gave up. I didn't short circuited the motherboard as I thought or did something wrong.

The motherboard was an old AMD motherboard and it had the crappy capacitors on it, the black ones with a silver top. And those things die faster than the new ones that motherboards and video cards have.

These are the black ones:

If the top is not flat it's either dead or dying. And all of mine around the CPU were dead. So what was happening the CPU was getting the power it need.

These ones are the better ones:
