I've been trying to plan my build after many suggestions and help on this forum, and I've almost decided on it.

But I have a few questions

I plan on using the masterbox 5 with the hyper 212x and the i5-6600k

Would the Corsair vengeance RED LED ram (  https://goo.gl/D0RT5a) fit with that specific cooler? Or should I just stick with the Corsair lpx ram  ( https://goo.gl/E1zks5instead? Seeing as where I'm from they cost the same.

Also, I couldn't decide on which motherboard, and why one is better over the other (idk much about these as it's my first build)

I first had decided on the gigabyte GA z170x gaming 3 ( https://goo.gl/GEza77but later on the price went up by about 40% , I saw the GA z170x gaming ultra https://goo.gl/iIHJTEwhich was cheaper.

What's the benefits of one over the other?

Also could someone confirm if this is the 8gb version of the RX 480 by Asus? The title and description seems to be all contradicting. https://goo.gl/k5BGZV

For the RAM i say go with the Corsair lpx ram it's 200MHz faster then the Corsair vengeance RED LED ram

For the motherboard I say go with the GA z170x gaming 3 it's cheaper and you don't need all the extra features (I think). Like LED, better Ethernet, extra PCI m.2 and sound

My own build: RΛZΞR theme

CPU: Intel Core i5 7600K // CPU cooler: Cryorig H7 // Motherboard: MSI Z270 gaming pro carbon //

Video Card: MSI Armor gtx 1070 OC 8GB // RAM: Corsair Vengeance 16GB 3200MHz //

SSD: Samsung EVO 960 500GB // HDD: 2x WD yellow edition 2TB //

Case: NZXT H440 RAZER edition // Power Supply: Corsair RM550x //

Operating Software: Windows 10 pro 64-bit

But I heard ram speed doesn't matter as much, was more worried about if the led ram would fit with the hypers ram clearence.

And the gaming 3 is more expensive than the other one.. so idk what you checked.

And are you sure about the video card? The reason I wanted someone to confirm is because the title says both 4gb and 8gb. The pictures show 8gb. The description says 4gb. But the product information says 8gb.

Hence the confusion.

Corsair Vengeance LED memory modules are 49mm tall. Clearance under a Hyper 212X fan is ~37mm. Unfortunately the Hyper 212X fan overhangs the memory slot closest to the cpu.

With just 2 sticks of memory one can usually use the 2nd & 4th memory slots rather than the more conventional 1st & 3rd. However, check the motherboard documentation to confirm support for this.

I would suggest either going with lower profile memory modules or going with a cpu cooler like the Cryorig H7 Universal or Noctua NH-U12S which do not have memory clearance issues.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.

Okay I guess I'll have to settle for the non led since the cryorig h7 (wanted it after finding out about it earlier) isn't available here, unless I want to pay double price.

Thanks for the informative reply! Any help on the motherboard doubt?
