Best Router $50-$75

Go to solution Solved by TheSLSAMG,

Well what would be a good whatever you said? I dont know networking so either dumb it down or just flat out tell me "THIS ONE" lol sorry.

Don't worry about it. :)

The second ASUS one or the Netgear are both great choices. I would personally go ASUS since they make awesome routers and it can also be used as a repeater (amplifies original Wi-Fi signal) if you retire it for a new one when faster standards become commonplace.

The ASUS RT-N53 Got pretty mediocre reviews on newegg.

This one has really good reviews from a lot of people... is it any good? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833124190

I just noticed that. The other router seems quite good though.

Also, there is this. It seems quite decent. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16833122334

That won't handle the speeds. I would know because I had one, and it wouldn't handle 50/25. Sure, 802.11G has a theoretical speed of 54Mbps, but it becomes saturated. You are better off with a Wireless N router. It won't become saturated like the WRT54GL will. I upgraded from that router to a $20 N router on the same speeds before and after and I noticed a significant performance boost.

I've had a similar Linksys (WRT54GS) for years (can't even remember how many), it's worked flawlessly, to this day.

I have a GS too. It's definitely one of the greatest routers ever made, but it can't handle the speeds. I have had it for six years.
