980Ti SLI or 1080

I said Volta, which will be out late 2017 to early 2018. The 1080 refresh is close, and possibly a 1080ti but not worth it for a 980ti owner.

Your 980ti is 30% slower than a Pascal titan X and the 1080ti should be just under that. Not worth it when a second 980ti will give you the same performance for way less money.

Volta is the name of Nvidia's next architecture. Expect the 1170 if that is what it's name will be to cost 350-400 dollars and be as powerful as a 1080ti. Add 20% to the 1170 and you have about a 40% boost going to the 1180 from your 980ti.

Titan pascal is 50 percent faster

AMD (and proud) r7 1700 4ghz-

MSI 980ti G6 1506mhz slix2 -

Nope, you'd think but nope. Tough to see because all the comparisons are using 2 980ti to crush a Titan X, which they do. Here's 980ti SLI with a game still in beta crushing the Titan X.

No way every game here is getting over 50% scaling.

You know how much ROTTR improved with the DX12 multi GPU patch, here before that.

If anyone asks you never saw me.

Like I said, if two 980ti beat a Titan X and 30-40% scaling is the norm. A Titan X cannot be 50% faster than a 980ti.

User benchmarks is looking at workstation tasks, where that big GPU in the Titan X really makes a difference. In games it's just not there.

Yeah, the Titan X isn't that impressive in gaming. Games just don't make that good of use of huge GPUs.

I'm seriously not upgrading until there is a xx70 card beating my 980tis on high at ultra

Only thing that would make me upgrade is VR. Just not any titles out yet that support SLI. Though one 980ti is usually enough.

Get another 980 Ti. The performance difference a 1080 would get you would be akin to a mild overclock -- which you're probably applying already. It would be a complete waste of money.

This is also true. This is the whole reason the Fury X didn't perform as well as people expected, and also why AMD even bothered with Asynchronous Shaders -- because a good chunk of their GPU wasn't even getting used a lot of the time.
