Steam controller or Xbox One controller

Any reason for that?

Steam controllers have a trackpad so something like civ where youd need a mouse to make the game more playable, would benefit, where a single-player game like skyrim (also some fps games) would benefit from a comfortable controller i.e. an xbox controller

Steam controller with this skin: https://www.decalgirl.com/skins/282878/valve-steam-controller-skin-charmed

Or a custom Xbox One controller: (Undecided on this one) - Might get this one: https://xboxdesignlab.xbox.com/en-US/view/0_a10bc92b-70e4-4b90-a81f-557a2fc19b23

They cost about the same, So i am more worried about:

The feel of the steam controller vs the Xbox controller, I know what an xbox controller feels like, and i like it, but i don't know if i will regret getting it if i find a friend has a steam controller and i prefer it.

As i know, i don't have a friend with a steam controller.

I've tried a Steam controller and with how hard I tend to grip my hands really cramped after a while. But I can play with my Xbone controller for hours on end and just have a sore thumb joint (which isn't because of the controller, but rather because of my thumb being an asshole).

I was in a similar situation. But i chose the Xbox One controller as i used it fairly often with console games.

You said you prefer the steam controller feel, so i would go with that if you think it feels better.

If you think you can wait, i would get one when its the summer sale, as steam heavily discount their hardware.

I Know the feel of the xbox controller, never touched a steam controller.

The only console i have is a PS2 and don't plan to get another one so that is not a worry.

I am probably not going to use it for that, Something like forza (If i get it) minecraft, TF2, DIRT etc. probably won't warrant it, Right?

And if i don't like the steam controller at all i can't return the skin. (Yes i have to buy the skin too because the controller will feel different  w/o it)

Who says the Steam Controller isn't comfortable?

OP, I'd suggest the Steam Controller, but only if you're willing to get used to something different. I got one and never want to touch an Xbox controller again, but it took me a little while to really get accustomed to it.

Steam recently added support for Xbox controllers to their configurator, so you can customize it in a similar way to the SC, but the input methods the SC has are still head and shoulders more versatile and, in my opinion, better.

"Do as I say, not as I do."

-Because you actually care if it makes sense.
