Where is the bottleneck n my new system?

Joelsome2211

Um there isn't one because the parts are all (about) the same age

Try using the PSU Tier List!

How to reset the bios/clear the cmos

That system is new? Wow, ok.

Expand your question a little bit, do you mean when playing new games or what?

Better dead than Red.

Well if you play crysis 3 at 4k ultra, all of you parts are a bottle neck. If your asking how ballanced your system is, My answer is your system is very ballanced and non of your parts bottleneck.

That R7 240 is definitely working against your gaming performance more than anything else. The Athlon X4 860K holds up pretty well in a lot of games for its price, but that GPU is awful.

I know. It is my old OEM card from my pre-built M11AD. It is awful. I meant for gaming.

How much RAM do you have?

The GPU is the weakest link atm. The 860K can pair nicely with modern entry level cards like the GTX 950, 1050 or RX 460 (all of which wallop the R7 240)

What is bottlenecking my game?
Easiest way to find what is bottlenecking your game performance is to use Riva tuner Statistic server and use OSD (on screen display) to show CPU GPU and RAM usage. While playing game, among three the component whose usage exceeds 95-97% is the actual bottleneck or FPS capping factor.
If your GPU usage exceeds 97% over clock it to improve FPS if your CPU usage exceeds 97% over clock it to improve FPS.

Is over clocking dangerous?
No, when your pc is close to danger its shutdowns (In 99% of the cases the pc will shutdown if you are unlucky you might hear, smell or see something rising up to heavens from your pc )

How much over clock that really benefits?
1000 MHz above stock (CPU) & 100-200 MHz above stock (GPU (memory, shader, clock). This will give the best improvement that can be seen in games. Above these the FPS increase will be minimum, the voltage and cooling requirement will increase exponentially.

Best way to check over clocks stability for CPU and GPU!
First check if your temps are within satisfactory range i.e. less than 75 c for CPU and GPU. (use Prime 95 for 5-10 min )
Then test stability by playing heavy games (In case of unstable over clock your game will crash to desktop or in very unstable case your windows will )

I really m not in favor of hours and hours of stress testing (Games are the best way to check stability trust me on this)
I stressed my CPU for about 10-20 min it didn’t showed error while GTAV showed within 5-10 min of play. Same goes for the GPU.
Stress testing is a constant heavy load while in gaming you load varies and that provide a better stability check.

This is my post from 2015 i hope it will help. And do correct if somethings isnt suitable for 2017 or this is a mistake !

Would be the gpu if u want more fps lower the games resolution but if u want to stay and 4K get a better card

no I am in no spot to be a pc elitists

my original intent was to joke about how your pc is so low end

and your trying to look for bottlenecks despite the fact that it won't matter much considering the performance you will get out of a rig like that

a quad core isn't low end. The gpu isn't low end. What is low end? That system is mid range.

actually having 4 cores automatically doesn't make it mid range

your gpu is the r7 240

actual video from linus

also the x4 860k is quite low end compared to todays standards  as you can get much better from a competitor from intel

(they don't have any low end zen cpus so yeah)

You've gotta be pretty loose with your definition of "mid-range" to believe that. Neither the Athlon X4 860K nor the R7 240 compares well against the middle of today's CPU or GPU lineup and you will definitely not get anyone's sane idea of mid-range performance in most recent games using that hardware.

The number of cores is not a relevant way to look at this. These days there are 2–4 core CPUs across a gigantic price and performance range.

it's low mid range, but it is mid range. I know the gpu is pretty rubbish, it came from an old office PC I bought under the pretence of it being a gaming PC. *thx pc world*
