Mirrorless or DSLR?

Go to solution Solved by cc143,

Are you trying to start WW3? ;P

Entry level DSLR's tend to be better price for performance wise, and realistically, a 3300d or 1300d are not that large/heavy/unwieldly.

Each has its advantages, which are widely available anywhere, just google the issue and you'll get thousands of different opinions.

My personal opinion is that mirrorless cameras are not there yet, and the way they are going, the advantages of one over DSLRs are becoming less significant. I have also long harboured a suspicion that DSLR's will have a longer lifecycle. I have found myself hoping I didn't have to carry ~3kg of camera equipment when I go on holiday too, but I'm not sure mirrorless is that much better at this point. I would go for a DSLR, unless for very specific purposes, and in very specific cases, (e.g. If I were a shooter who has no equipment already looking for a FF camera I might have gone with the Sony a7ii). But in general, I find DSLR's to be more appealing.

Best thing you can do is name a budget and ask for recommendations, then you could see wether the form factor would be an issue...

Now, I'm kind of confused between the 2. I'm a student so I can't bring DSLRs all the time due to the bulkiness of it so I found mirrorless cameras that are smaller and more portable.

I researched about the 2 and kinda drawn a conclusion that DSLRs are still better due to the battery life of the DSLRs and the wide variety of Lenses.

Can you please further enlighten a newbie to this kind of things? What are your thoughts? Thank you.

Entry level mirrorless and DSLR cameras only please. :)

My bad. Well then, thank you for your reply and your thoughts about this. I'm still trying to grasp the jargons for these things.
