Been noticing a LOT of FPS drops recently when playing all games, here's the kinda basics of them

Csgo : only around 260fps

H1Z1 : 125fps dropping to a lowest 55

GTA V: 120 dropping to 70, or 90 dropping to 35

The Forest : 100 dropping to a lowest 56

Anyone know what could be causing it?

CPU : i7-6700k 4ghz

GPU : GTX 1060 SC 6GB

Mboro : MSI Z170 A-Pro

RAM : Corsair Vengeance 3000mhz 8gb

Harddrive : 1TB Toshiba

Cooling : Corsair H55 Liquid

I notice a slight difference in fps when I have chrome open with a bunch of tabs. Do you have any back ground programs that could be causing thing?

nope, i make sure to close everything down before playing and only have 'Curse' open on my 2nd monitor. (Basically Skype)

Who cares mate, anything above 30 is fine.

If there's a hardware issue things are not fine.

It's alright to not care much about fps, but to ignore potential issues is just plain stupid.

It sounds A BIT like something is eating your RAM, memory leak perhaps?

Do you monitor your hardware usage?

When it drops, does it stay low or just for a short while?

Also, WHEN specifically does it drop? Different areas in games take more power to run, that is a huge difference though so I doubt it.

Does it dip just at random places? How's your heat/temps?

I was wondering RAM tbf because i bought 16gb but I can only use 8gb atm.

It drops for like a few seconds and then regains performance like usual, and yes it normally does drop in more crowded places of the game like the cities etc. Temps look perfectly fine tbf

get out, *PLEASE* get out...

i'm one of the few people who sees no issue with vsyncing some games to 30fps (half refresh rate) to gain some eyecandy, but if CSGO is on the list, you need to go take your 30FPS somewhere else, because i'll be the first one to say that in that game it matters, mostly because its a damn challenge to even get CSGO to vsync to 30.

You should definetly look up your RAM in that case, try using different RAM slots and so forth.

i'd say try to drop down anti aliasing and/or shadows one or two notches down from where you usually have them, and see what that results in. may just be that you're expecting *slightly* too high settings out of your GPU.

the reason i say specificly AA and shadows is because those two are essentially only GPU bound, so if the issue is not GPU sided, they will make no difference and we know to look elsewhere :D

Yeah it matters alot to some people, or most rather.

But if the man is fine with 30fps, let him! No reason to tell someone "60fps or more is superior" if it doesn't go noticed in their eyes.

And man, if your PC can't run above 30 FPS on CSGO you should definetly get an upgrade for that 8800 GT :P

on the settings of my GPU through GTA its only using 2gb of the 6gb so i dont think it'd be that would it? Im running at v high textures

it's the other way around for me, with anything i try, i cant get CSGO below 30FPS, i was actually doing the scientific thing "do i screw up more at lower framerates" (spoilers: yes, once i finally managed to get the magic 30FPS number, boy did it feel like a playstation one xD)

HAH! That's fascinating, what was your hardware?

So you underclocked it?? :D

the fun bit about CSGO is that source engine has an FPS cap built in, so you can make it run at any framerate.. until you try to punch in 30... i had to cap the framerate at 15 to make it run at 30 xD
