£450-£500 gaming and work build

otaurins

My suggestion wait about a month until Ryzen is released.  Prices should drop on most CPU's and Motherboards and you can get what you want.

My statement was meant to say that Intel and AMD prices should drop with Ryzen's release.  Start looking after the prices are announced.

Add mass storage later, as you need it.  Upgrade to a better CPU when you can.  The Pentium here has Hyper Threading, like an i3.

1- Get the G4560, cheaper and faster or get the i3 7100. The FX 6300 is pre historic

2- Get one 240 GB SSD or one 1 TB hard drive if you want it to be cheaper

3-The 950 is outdated, get the 1050Ti or the RX 470. Same price much faster

4- Get the 450W CXM, only a tad pricer but modular and better.

Is that board running BIOS Rev 1.0?  If not, he will have an expensive paper weight.

Get the i3 6100, G4560 or the G4620. But 20 pounds is such a small amount, do you really need to save it? Another option would be to get a 120 GB SSD or a 1 TB hard drive.

If you ever want to upgrade your system definitely go with Intel, or wait for Ryzen

Check CEX for a CPU, they do 2 year warranty so much better than buying on eBay.

Also, you could search Scan for 'refurbished', Alza give 5 GBP off if you subscribe to their newsletter, and if you have Amazon Prime, or know someone who has, it's worth checking amazon for Prime-only deals.

Does you mum know you're here?

The G4560 doesn't play too well with the RX 480

Yes the customer service is pretty good. I only order online from them though, but the one time I called their customer service they were very friendly and helpful.

Also, CPU's generally don't go wrong so it's low risk, especially with the warranty.

It's not terrible, but there are better ways to spend.  The RX 470 is £165, to the 1050Ti's £140.  That is a big performance jump for £25.

The RAM speed is limited to 2133MHz because of the motherboard so why pay more than this:  https://uk.pcpartpicker.com/product/BQ3RsY/crucial-memory-bls8g4d240fsa

Yes.

Why do you need the 1TB?  I can safely say a 240GB is enough for a gaming oriented PC.  I have been running a single 240GB SSD for three years now.  Storage can be added, more GPU power involves replacing the old GPU.
