osram lightify led strip

I have two questions,

1.(this one is probably only for people that have a strip)

does the Osram Lightify led strip use rgbww or rgbw?

2.

those extensions are sooo expensive compared to some aliexpress junk :D

https://www.amazon.com/Osram-Lightify-Flexible-Changing-Cabinet/dp/B01MYZ2X3D/ref=sr_1_2?srs=2530074011&ie=UTF8&qid=1486242606&sr=8-2&keywords=lightify+led+strip
here a 2 foot extension costs $39.90!!

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/led-strip-5050SMD-flexible-led-light-highlight-60led-m-5m-lot-rgb-rgbw-rgbww-led-strip/32734305796.html

and here a 5m rgbww and rgbw strip costs $5!

so is the aliexpress stuff a scam? or is it as good as the Osram one?

They just look to be a more complete solution with integrate app for wifi control as such like the philphs Hue systems. However as for that extra associated cost that is up to you, as the cheap LED strips can sometimes be a hit and miss where they will work but not last long term.

(sorry about posting in general, I thought this would be smart home stuff...)

no, I am talking about the extension, I am planning to use the Osram with the aliexpress strips.

Oh ok, that gets a bit more complex as there are different versions of RGBW LED's. They would need to match the version the osram lights use, which from what I see in the photos of the RGBW type lot is a specialty strip that is used with a standard SMD5050 RGB and a white what looks to be SMD 3258.

do you think led size would impact anything but brightness?

Yes depending on the type of LED's you get and if they work with the current setup. There are versions that have completely separate SMD5050 white and RGB lights and others which have an SMD5050 sized chip with RGBW all in one. I believe the all in one RGBW would be the best option in something like this assuming they will with work the Osram wiring setup.
