hello forum does any body know if it is possible to put an r9 290 on the same board as an r9 240 and use the r9 290 for 3x monitors in eyefinity then use the r9 240 to connect 3 displays for monitering stuff such as cpuz, gpuz, coretemp ect and then when i use photoshop/dreamweaver/flash/ put the tools and project description on top 3 screens and have the actual project on bottom 3 screens. in case it matters the pc it would be going into is:

EVGA sr-2

2x xeon e5645s

48gb ram

enermax 1600w

4x480s[ gone now]

cosmos 2

2x 2tb hdds

windows 7 ultimate

bought this from a freind who sold it to me for $2500 but wasent happy with heat and noise of 480s just wondering if i can hook up all 6 monitors to it if the r9 290 is over kill please give me recomendations thanks.

hi pretty new to the forum so forgive me is i say something wrong. first off i want to make sure your talking about the r9 290 and the r7 240. if so then yeah you probably can put them both into your rig/computer. the drivers might be unsupporting of them working together. but use them as separate cards and you should be golden. im sorry im not too sure if you can put 6 monitors on an r9 290. and to the question is it overkill? personally i would say no its not overkill. for editing i will always say bigger the better. doesnt hurt to get the job done faster. hope this helped

if i am not mistake friend, the R9 290 "alone" can do 6 monitors (the DP can be split on 3xDP)

so... 3x DP + HDMI + DVI + DVI = 6 monitors (all on 1080p i think)

(you may only need buy the 3xDP adapter)

check my old post "24x1080p" on my sign for fun to  ^_^
