I currently have a headset as well as a proper stand-mic. I'm wanting to return this headset, for a number of reasons, and preferably find a pair of headphones (so, a headset without the mic). I'm assuming I'd save a bit of cash doing this, however, searching headphones only comes up with headsets. Are headphones not a thing anymore? I just want a good quality set of headphones for audio only!

My budget is £70 give or take a bit.

The ones on that list are fairly low quality. I'm looking for headphones that are better suited to gaming etc.

What sound signature do you want? Open or closed back? Which country are you in?

I'm looking for open back headphones. I'm from the UK. As I said above, wanting some good quality headphones. I should add, the ones I have right now are extremely loud, and only allow me to set my volume to 10%. I'd like a pair of headphones that aren't ridiculously loud, and that aren't going to cause a buzzing sound at higher sound levels.

I've been searching around for a nice pair of headphones myself, but haven't pulled the trigger yet. I would really would like to get HD 598 CS or ATH-M50x, but I don't know if I can drop that much change. Based off of my personal research, the Audio Technica ATH-m40x look like a great option at your ~£70 price point (currently £77 on Amazon.) Keep in mind that these are known to have a flat, "reference" sound, So they won't be extra bassy.

Edit: These are closed back, I just noticed that you were preferring open back in your most recent comment. These are still a solid option at this price point though.

"Good quality" isn't very specific. Do you like a neutral, V-shape, bassy sound, or something else entirely?

Hey, why not just pick one off this thread:

Basically anything up to 150 USD will fit your needs, and I don't think anything on this particular post is a poor choice. Plenty of headphones out there! :)
