Help with my new build

So my primary gaming system at the moment is an msi trident with a gtx 1060 3gb and an i5 6400. I'm going to build a pc soon. Keep in mind that i'm pretty new to this stuff, but i know a lot about it. If i act noobish talking about some things, pls don't absolutely destroy me lol

 

So i want to get a titan x pascal, which is $1,200, but i'm willing to spend a bit more on a card, so i kind of want to get 1080 sli. The problem is that i don't want to buy things in the current gen right now because i still can't get 60fps with ultra at 4k, but i think the next generation will get me closer to that. My question is, do you think the next gen's 1080 sli will be more powerful than the titan x of the next gen? I really want to know which one i should get, since i'm building this in august 2017 or later. I really like the look of the titan x and prefer a single gpu, but 1080sli is more powerful than the titan x pascal, so i want to know if anything will change in the next gen.

Come back in june/july and ask. It's pointless to ask now as Ryzen from AMD is releasing in March and 1080 Ti could be released then
