CPU Temps while gaming

I did the rice grain method on the thermal paste. I am actually running BF1 under minimum specs of BF1! (a 4690k which I think is ridiculous) and it is mostly at 100% utilisation. Could that be it? However, CS:Go runs at 65C

Is the fan working ok? That thermal compound is kinda old though, released between 2008/2009, so while it doesn't technically have a shelf life, it wouldn't hurt to buy some IC diamond or newer type of thermal compound. Make sure the fan spins freely feel the actual heatsink, make sure it's making good contact with good mounting pressure, and see how hot the fin stack is, if the CPU is hot but the cooler isn't, then there might be a bad mount, if the whole thing is hot then it's not up to par, and a replacement should be considered, 70°C is what I expect from a stock cooler.

Would the i5 being a OEM one explain it?

No, OEM ones aren't all that different, you said 4460 right?

is arctic mx4 good? I can get the IC diamond for the same price.

I have more dedocated WAM than you on my Minecraft server!

Specs:

RX 480 Sapphire Nitro+

i5 4460 w/ Raijintek Aidos cooler

XFX TS 650W PSU

Cheap OEM Acer motherboard w/ Cheap dollar tree Micro-ATX case

12GB DDR3 Decocated WAM

1TB Seagate Barracuda HHD

BTW I live in the UK so if I don't know where you live I will quote all prices in £

yes, i5 4460. I might get a new cpu cooler and paste then.

That tower cooler should be enough, so check the mount and then thermal paste, it should be mounted with a decent amount of force, at least 50 newtons for an LGA 115x.

Yes, it's basically the 4th generation of the MX1, I can't fault it. Maybe look for an AIO if you want good temps and have the rad space

Yours faithfully

how much force is 50 newtons? (Sorry, not to good at physics :D) could you give me an example?

Oh, that means the cooler should be mounted with enough force to equal a 5KG weight resting on it, my cooler is mounted with about 75 newtons. it shouldn't be over about 125 newtons (at that point you might as well use a ratchet)

Yours faithfully
