Hey!

So i have used my old SSD from my old PC when building my new one, because i fried 2 new 750GB ones (you can read about it in another thread)

The PC worked nice for the last 8 years, but now it won't start anymore.

After i pulled out the SSD, i started it and there are these beep sounds.

I googled for the one for my motherboard, and got "CPU configuration error or CPU type is not compatible"

Does this mean a unicorn secretly switched out my CPU i used for the last 8 years while the case was open because i got out the SSD?

I already unplugged everything (graphics card,...) until the only things left where the start button, some RAM and the Motherboard&CPU&PSU.

Still the same error.

When i pull out the RAM, i get the Memory Error Code, but otherwise nothing happens...

Do you have any idea what i could do about this?

I'm a little confused, where did you get the SSD from? The system won't start without a drive in it.

At least, it will post.

Tru dat! Try making sure all the cables are connected in the right place. You sure the PSU is able to supply enough power to all the stuff without problem? Try removing the GPU and see if it turns on with the OBG.

The GPU is removed. Well since i use this PSU for the last 8 years without problem: yes.

Still beeps with OBG

So i did clean all the dust out of it, and the error is gone!

But for some reason if i plug anything into RAM Slot 2, it beeps again...

So i tried turning it on with only one RAM stick, but there is no display output.

It just runs, no errors, no beep, there are just turning fans.

I tried it with and without the GPU...

Thanks so far!

Any further ideas?

So everything works again!

Thanks for you support, i thinks it was really just dust.

Other problems i encountered:

My System needs a GPU, it has no OBG, one beep code was telling me that too.

I need to plug in a system fan. The system just won't start without.

Glad to hear its working, couple of questions.

1) What CPU do you have?

2) You shouldn't run your system without any fans, how do you create airflow?

One final thought, you should at least clean out your system every year, disassemble and dust everything off with canned air.

intel i7 870

I do have a CPU Fan, i just unplugged the Case Fan because it was in my way, it's plugged in, even though i think i don't need it because my case is almost always open^^

Thanks, i should really do that, sadly i spent all my canned air on freezing things, but for now i cleaned it pretty good.

Saying this is " even though i think i don't need it because my case is almost always open", is like saying, why do people use Fans to refresh themselves. It's open but it still needs airflow to create a cool breeze, not to be mistaken with febreeze.

If you will be doing maintenance on it, I would recommend investing in a small duster.
