pick your model - due to forum rules i cannot link directly to ebay

My laptop, Acer E5 I believe, has a broken screen... Long story short my cat is a jackass and loves to "play"/smash everything expensive I own. The screen has a broken/cracked LCD, I sent it to Acer's warranty department after contacting their support; which is completely shit, I told the guy I talked it was a broken LCD and he put down "weird lines in screen", they emailed me back saying the bill would be $210 USD which is ~$275CAD, then they contacted me via phone at 6AM(we're in the same timezone) and told me the bill would be $290 USD ($~380 CAD). I said fuck it and had them send it back to me. I only paid $370 CAD for entire laptop in the first place...

However, I really like this laptop's keyboard; it's my definition of perfect except it doesn't have RGB lighting. Anyway, how could I go around finding a replacement screen and replacing it myself?

Get something like this. not sure if it is the correct model or whatever, it was the first result that I saw. Just verify you have the correct one before you buy it.

To replace the screen, I'm sure you can find a video on youtube of someone doing it for your laptop. In general, you want to unscrew the screws on the bottom of the laptop, and remove the bottom cover. Then detach the monitor ribbon cable. Pry the bezel off of the broken screen and remove it from the rest of the housing. To put the new screen in, just do the opposite. be very careful with the cable as it tends to be quite fragile.

edit: actually it looks like it is quite easy for the acer e5, you don't even have to remove the bottom of the laptop:

On some machines like my HP, you just pull the bezel off slowly and you can pull the screen cable out and panel off.

Acer E5 14 or E5 15, OP?

Also screen panel is generally around $50 for a 1080p version for 15, and I think 14 only has 1366x768

idk

Replacing panels is easy, I've pulled a few myself, my dad coughed up some wine on his laptop and I had to fully disassemble the screen to clean it out and on an old Acer laptop my mom had years ago I replaced JUST the LCD panel (as I had a panel from an old HP laptop) and kept all the other parts of the backlight and difussers due to the dimensions being slightly wrong to just swap the entire panel assembly.

typically the back of the panel will have a sticker with a part number on it if you wanna confirm the part number before ordering.
