laptop Best $800 laptop

I am a student, and I game on the side. I need a new laptop as my current one is a little worse for wear, I have looked at Dells Inspiron 7559, but the two newly released Laptops in this price range at CES look to be better, the Acer aspire VX 15, and the new Dell Inspiron 15 and 14 inch 7000 series gaming notebooks both have 1050/Ti's instead of a 960M. Should I get the Dell, or wait for the new Acer and Dell offerings

I would say wait. The 960M is outclassed badly by even the regular GTX 1050 laptop card. 

 

I had also been looking at a new laptop at this price range to replace mine, as it's VERY worn out and the GT 750M doesn't cut it nowadays. I spend a lot of time away from home, so a new gaming laptop would be nice.

He didn't post in the desktops section. Go away. Stop acting like you know what's better. Everyone is different and everyone has different needs.

 

I say wait for the 1050 laptops to get released and then make your decisions.  The 1050 is about 50% faster than the 960M, so that's a reason to wait all on its own.

that build is trash, a 800$ laptop would have a way way better CPU and be way better balanced.

That CPU would bottleneck the RX 470 in basically any game at 1080p

 

@OP wait for the 1050 laptops to really hit the marked, you should be able to get a i5 + 1050 laptop.

that cpu is basically an i3, how is a rx470 and i3 unbalanced. Almost all mobile chips are dual core with hyperthreading exactly what that is.

less cache and they don't performe the same. A i3 + a 470 is also not a very good idea, because of driver overhead.

You are talking about ULV CPUs, those are used in ultrabooks, not gaming laptops. a i5 HQ aka quad core CPU, would beat that pentium with no problem

look at how many laptops have them, hit very few.

10% is also a lot... A i5 7300HQ is about 15% better acording to that website and there is a i5 7440HQ, which should be about 20% better.

You really need to look at the laptop marked, there are plenty of laptops with HQ CPUs, maybe not in the 800$ price range, but there are still some.

The Dell 7559 was 800$ for a i5 HQ + 960m. The new 7567 gives you a i5 7300HQ, 8gb of ram, GTX 1050, 1TB SSHD for 800$ and for 100$ more you get a 1050ti.
