extreme ares 2 mini build

I have planned a pretty nice mini itx build and i wonder if everything will work nice together (bottlenecks etc.) my main consern is power supply while it is only 860w, but if you know any bigger 160mm psu let me know;)

case: bitfenix prodigy

mb: asus p8z77-i deluxe (what is the difference between wd and non wd???)

cpu: intel 3770k

ram: corsair dominator platinum 1866mhz 2x8gb

psu: corsair ax 860i

cooling: corsair h100i

1tb hdd and kingston hyperx 240gb ssd

and to top it all of one of the asus ARES II

Just going to out this out there; you can't run a dual GPU setup in the Prodigy or any mini ITX board as there is only one PCI slot. You won't be able to fit that lot in their either with a 240mm radiator and 2 120mm radiators.

So back to the drawing board; did you want the craziness of basically quad 7970's or a mini ITX form factor?

but, the ARES II is a "7990" (two 7970 on a single PCIe x16 :))

You won't be able to fit the cooler inside the case due to drive bays and other things. You couldn't put it on the top because that'd strangle your H100i and I doubt you could put it on the back.

From memory no it isn't. The Ares 2 uses dual 7970 Ghz edition cards. There is a difference between the normal 7970's and Ghz editions.

One other key thing I forgot and should have mentioned it earlier; the Ares 2 is a tripple slot card. It will not fit in a mini ITX case.

You wouldn't get the tubing out the side of it due to the H100i.

Also off the top of my head there are no back tray mounts for 3.5" drives though you could get all 2.5" both mechanical as well as SSD's.

You wouldn't be able to - you'd have either all the IO ports on the motherboard to contend with or the structural integrity of the side panel to worry about.

it is also "more high" that normal

Won't work with a H100i - you won't get the radiator in and even if you did, with the Ares rad on top, the H100 would be near useless.

You won't get the water cooling tube out of the card. The H100 is blocking it.

No bottlenecks. You could drop to a AX760i if you wanted to save money.

i think i would stick to the 860 just for safety and then we will see if it all fits:)

one thing to keep in mind to, is that the case it is a bit mod

(the 2 slots whas mod to be a 3 slots just a bit)
