I'm thinking of getting a new PC, and decided that I would build it myself, but since this is the first time I build a PC, I would like to know if there is something that I should change...

Hi,

what is your budget and location? What is the intended use case of the PC?

As @QuantumBit mentioned, an SSD is the way to go for boot drive, and why would you ever need a 850W power supply? A 550 / 650W unit would be just fine for you.

Also the HDD is waaaaaay over the top for a desktop build, get a 2-4 TB desktop drive.

i suggest changing your psu to seasonic s12 or corsair cxm series (grey branded one) + rx 480 instead of a 1060, because 480 is eating 1060 on every update. With a 212x/evo or cryorig h7 should be fine for less money/less temps and what they said above, get a ssd for faster boots and faster loading in games...

(and wait for ryzen and vega, is highly recommended)

Remember to quote me (or someone else), otherwise we won't going to recieve your answers...

As @Blackhole890 mentioned though, it would be a good idea to wait a couple months (if you don't absolutely need a PC right now) to see what Ryzen and Vega bring to the table.

Thanks for all the feedback

Updated list: https://pcpartpicker.com/list/MPKw8K

Changed the PSU and added SSD

For those who asked: I'm using the PC mostly for gaming (CSGO mainly, but I want to be able to play games like GTA5 and Arma3)

I don't really know how much I'm spending on this PC, but it's somewhere between $1000 and $1500.

I'll buy the parts in 3 or 4 months, but thought that it was a good idea to start early, so that I get a better understanding of what I'm spending my money on, so I'll vait for Ryzen and Vega and see what they come with.

Again, thanks for all the feedback!

No one should build a new computer these days without an SSD. Take some time to properly assess your storage needs. I would suggest one of 3 options (with #3 being best)

1 - A 120-250Gig M.2 SSD for OS/boot, plus a 1TB HDD

2 - A single 500Gig (or larger) SSD (preferably M.2)

3 - A 120-250Gig M.2 SSD for OS/boot, plus a 500Gig SATA SSD

PSU: 850watts is overkill. Your system only needs 500watts (or 650watts for SLI).

You can save some money to put towards an SSD by getting a less expensive psu such as a CX550M or equivalent EVGA model.

A sieve may not hold water, but it will hold another sieve.

i5-6600, 16Gigs, ITX Corsair 250D, R9 390, 120Gig M.2 boot, 500Gig SATA SSD, no HDD

If you're only using  this computer for gaming, then the i7 7700k isn't much better than the i5 7600k for gaming, maybe 10 fps higher at most. I think that you're better off getting the i5, and getting a gtx 1070 instead of the 1060 if you're buying the parts now.

If you can wait, I suggest waiting for ryzen and vega, to see what they bring to the table before pulling the trigger.
