Asus G75VW - repair and future upgrade!

I have an old G75VW with the i7 3610 cpu and 660m gpu.

The motherboard died, at first I thought it was the bios that got bricked (was using vbios) - replaced the bios chip and still no post.

 

Ive ordered a used one.

The PN is 60-N2VMB1400-C03 on the one I ordered.

The one in my laptop has allmost the same numer: 60-N2VMB1400-C04

 

The one I ordered seems to be a bit newer - the were fitted in the G75´s with win 8 while mine came with win 7.

 

Does anyone know the differences between the mobos except for 2d and 3d screen connector ?!

 

Im also planning on upgrading the 660m with a better one.

Beast eGPU seems like a good way to go since the Asus G75vw have a x16 wifi pci-e <3

The biggest problems is the drivers. I want a 1060 or 1070 gpu but havent seen anyone had any sucess yet. Up to 980 is fine though.

Any ideas?

It comes down to bios compatibility. If your BIOS doesn't support the GPU, then you're screwed.

Ivé got a full bios dump file. Just need to find someone that can check gpu comp.

That's asking a lot for someone to do for free. Like... why not just buy a new machine entirely instead of upgrading that one? a 1070 costs around $650 USD at the cheapest and even THEN they run ultra hot. The G75 CANNOT handle that level of hardware. You will kill your GPU within a year from heat or it will simply throttle to unplayable levels. Just buy a new machine entirely. It's cheaper overall and a better deal.

Did u read the first post ?
eGPU is a external pcb with external power supply with 1 x X16 pci-e that connects to the laptop with a hdmi to pci-e cable - like a Razr Core - main difference is the connection to the laptop (Thunderbolt 3 vs. hdmi to pci-e)

The Beast eGPU is around 35 bucks + a power supply.

I can even get an 980 or 1060 for a quite small amount of money if bought used.
