NVME support

Does my motherboard have NVME support? I looked on the official site but it only mentions M.2, not NVME. Looking at the connector though it looks like it's an NVME

 

EDIT: My stupid brain forgot to put the motherboard, it's a ASUS Z97-P

What Motherboard & What Chipset?

M.2 IS NOT NVME!

Some motherboards only support SATA M.2 Drives

 

Usually, Z97 and above have no problem booting from NVME drives, and Z87 might have a compatible BIOS update, although many Z87 midrange boards didn't even have m.2 slots on them.

there is no connector for NVMe 

m.2 and u.2 are the connectors for PCie NVMe drives; and of course PCIe 4x

 

and yes, the mobo supports NVMe since BIOS 2801: https://www.asus.com/Motherboards/Z97P/HelpDesk_Download/

NVMe is not a connector. It's a protocol used by some SSDs that either have an M.2 (probably what your thinking of as an NVMe connector) or U.2 (a rather rare connector only to be found on enthusiast and workstation grade boards)  connector or come as a PCIe add-in card.

depends on what BIOS you have installed.

as I said, you need at least that BIOS

if you have anything lower than that version, you do need to update

My BIOS version in Windows says 2803 (I haven't updated it)

it will work

but since the are newer BIOS versions with "Improved system stability", it won't hurt to update to the latest
