So I'm overclocking a 4690k with an MSI Z97s SLI Krait Edition mobo. I'm not sure how to adjust and set fixed voltages. Also, it seems that I reach temps of 70C at 4.4ghz with an H100i when testing with intel burn test. Anyone have similar results? I was hoping to get 4.5 or 4.6 out of it. Maybe I just got a little bit weaker chip.

Thanks for any insight you can provide!

iv gotten 4.7GHz on my I5 4690K running 1.335V. i used Intel Extreme Tuning Utility(XTU) to do it because the BIOS of my motherboard is a mess and complete shit and i can really recomend doing it, you can change most BIOS settings related to overclocking in it. i would however later input what you got in XTU into your BIOS just to make it more permanent

I spent $2500 on building my PC and all i do with it is play no games atm & watch anime at 1080p(finally) watch YT and write essays...  nothing, it just sits there collecting dust...

Builds:

The Toaster Project! Northern Bee!

The original LAN PC build log! (Old, dead and replaced by The Toaster Project & 5.0)

So it seems like either my board or chip is super finicky. If I adjust it, and its just slightly undervolted, it wont even post to bios, and I have to reset my CMOS. This typically happens around 4.5ghz with a voltage at 1.2. 4.4ghz is fine at 1.2, and maybe even lower. But at 1.2 volts im ggetting temps in anywhere from 63-67 during intel burn test.

I tried using it, but if I adjust the multipler with it, as soon as i press apply my system crashes.

Didn't mean to. Had it set at 1.2 and was fine at 4.4ghz, upped the multipler to 45, and then it wouldnt post. had to reset CMOS.

go up with the voltage untill its stable or the temps go over 80C. i would recomend 1.25V to begin with, like i said im running 1.335V to get 4.7GHz but you will definatly need more then 1.2V
