So, we have a R7 240 and we just got a new computer. The R7 right now is paired with X4 645 and 16GB RAM to be able to support a 1080p monitor.

We just got a new computer like I said and it came with a I5 4460 and 12 GB RAM. Its good for now but we are going to upgrade it with the existing parts to 16 GB RAM and R7 240.

We will need a display adapter / GPU, so will the GDDR5 2GB version of the R7 350 do the same/better?

Why do you need a GPU? The 4460 has integrated graphics?

He will want the R7 240 in it sometime as it has been reliable for the past 2 years.  And the X4 645 has none/horrible integrated graphics + we threw away the horrible GPU the old computer came with.

I understand the 240 in the x4 645 build, but I'm not understanding why the 4460 build needs a GPU -- integrated graphics is just as good.

Still, he has almost no faith in it as he knew computers in the 90's and is perplexed at the idea of a 2.5 GHZ CPU outrunning a 3.5 GHZ CPU, soooooooooooo

Well, you can tell him that integrated graphics in the 4460 is better than an R5 240 and not to waste his money on buying another GPU. If he intends to game, then he should be looking for a GTX950/RX 460 or above.

No, he wants to use the R7 so me and my brother might buy the 350 to keep performance up.

And also, he doesnt take computer advice well. He bought that build with no GPU for $360 when I proposed to him a build for $370 with way better performance and custom built.

"Im not an abuser, im a user" - my dad

Even though he has seen me take apart a whole server down to the case and put it back together working :/

Neither the 240/350 are good "performance" GPUs.

I get people who don't listen to advice, but it doesn't make sense to pair either GPU with a 4460. If the intention is NOT gaming, then a 240 is enough for a 645 and the iGPU is enough for a 4460. If the intention is gaming, then both a 240 and 350 is shit.

Agreed, I can confirm that as an owner of an i5 4460.

How about the 128BIT GDDR5 2GB HD 5770 for the X4 build? And like I said, no matter what you tell him, he will want a DGPU.

Then tell him you won't help him because he clearly doesn't want to take advice.

A 5770 is also terrible.

Have any suggestions for a GPU under $50 that matches the performance of the 2GB Sapphire R7 240?

Bruh, he is going to use the 240 no matter what........ if your not going to be helpful for the question at hand, please dont answer the question.

You're literally asking how can you throw money out the window. So buy any GPU you want.....or since your dad clearly doesn't want advice, tell him to figure it out on his own.

An R7 240 is a waste of money. Anything below a 750Ti~ is a waste of money. Any GPU at this point is basically a waste of money seeing as he's wasting a 240 by putting it in a build that has a superior GPU built into the CPU.

He has already figured that out. Now me and my brother need to figure out how to keep up performance without the 240 in there.

i really don't think you understand at all @djdwosk97 isn't trying to scam you or be unhelpful, he is telling you the r7 350 is a down right shit graphics card and at the price it is, its an utter waste of money. Either use the IGPU or save up for something like a 1050ti/ rx 470

Me and my brother find it hard to save up as we both just bought a One S splitting the money.
