So I picked up a gtx 970 used, and device manager keeps giving me one of two 'errors':

-Will recognize the 970 with Error 43 (as far as I can tell either a driver issue or something physically wrong with the card)

-Will see the card as Microsoft Basic Display adapter (not sure what this is or what it means)

What I've tried so far:

     -Restart the pc

     -Reinstall graphics drivers x5

-install older drivers (no difference from newest driver)

     -Install drivers from safemode

     -uninstall/disable gpu and reinstall drivers

     -Re-seat x2

     -System restore

     -Reinstall windows

          -repeat most above after install

The seller had posted in-game screenshots with the correct frequencies and stuff displayed on CAMs overlay and after talking with him I don't think I was just shipped a dead card.

A few things I haven't done yet: (want some ideas on these)

-Put it in my other computer (after a windows re-install I'm not sure how much this would help)

     -Flash the bios

-Update the motherboard (its a GA-78LMT running an fx-8320 if that's helpful)

     -Use DDU

Just wanted to check if anyone has any ideas for what the issue may be or other diagnostics to perform, otherwise I'll probably exhaust the last list and then try to get the seller to refund the card. (Went through Ebay so...)

Thanks

If your old card was AMD suggest DDU.

My old card was AMD, can drivers survive a windows reinstall? So I'll try to do that tomorrow (not going to be around tonight).

You havn't OCed it?

My old card yes. This card was OC by the first owner, only about 100mhz according to him. I haven't been able to do anything with it as error 43 was the first thing happen after installing.

I would definitely try it on the other computer.

If you get the same error, get your money back.

Will do
