Hi yall, making a new build. Whilst the parts are arriving one by one i am having some second thoughts on my motherboard choice.

My specs:

I5-6600k

thermalright le grand macho rt cpu cooler

sapphire nitro+ rx480 4gb

corsair vengeance lpx 3000mhz white

evga gq 650w

nzxt s340 elite white

samsung 850evo 250gb

hdd i'll buy a random 1tb 64mb cache 7200 rpm one

i'll be using 4 case fans so dedicated fan headers would be nice

My initial choice is a z170-a from asus but i've been reading a lot of negative reports which are kind of disheartening but then again all mobos have bad reviews (mainly on newegg).. With the release of z270 mobos there are some choices in the same price range and better looks (subjective).

MSI z270 sli plus (looks nice, matte black, cool contrast to my white case)

Asus rog strix z270H a bit more expensive 20-30euros (there are e,f,g but they are out of my range and seem to be the same)

I mainly like the look of them, i don't care about flashy lights, they just look nice as they are. So my question would be (i know there aren't any tangible improvements over the 170 series) does it really matter which one i go for, i'd like the most reliable board (i plan on OC-ing, probably gpu/cpu/ram the whole shabang). I don't place much importance on the features and bundled software, mainly looks, oc potential and reliability. Price of the boards is almost the same with the strix being a bit more expensive. So should i stick with the asus z170-a or pick one of the other two? What would be your choice? Thanks

Because He probably doesn't care about power savings, for performance they are virtually identical and one costs more.

From what I've heard the 170a is a good board, should do fine unless your doing something ridiculous.

They both seem to be fine choices in genral. Aslong as it has all you need you are overall good to go with reputable brands.

Hmm, so you would stick with the 170? Is it because the 270 offer no improvement and are fairly new and haven't gone thru the "rite of passage" or any other reason?
