So I've just come across a weird issue with my phone.

If I have the power off and plugged in, it will charge completely fine. However if the phone is on and plugged in, it will charge for about 5 minutes maximum, then it will stop charging. I've tried tipping the charge connector up a bit, a ton of different cables, plugs, sockets and such but still got the same issue. My phone is a cubot X16 (Android Lolipop 5.1) . Any idea's on how to fix is immensely appreciated, thanks!

Most batteries have a sensor to restrict the flow of electricity, especially when most people charge their phones over night. This will prevent you from damaging the battery and increase its life. It sounds to me like there is some sort of defect with that. A.K.A. the battery. Where to go from there to fix that is beyond me. HOWEVER, IF for some reason the phone really is charging and it's just not showing you that it is charging (by that I mean a software issue), then that would explain why you see the difference when it is turned off. At the same time, it would also explain the first reason, so your guess is as good as mine. If you don't have any crucial data on the phone, it might be worth a factory reset just to rule that out.

So there's a possibility it is charging but not showing it on the device?

I don't really want to factory reset, seeing as its a work phone with a lot of data on it.

I understand, that is why I said "if you don't have any crucial data on it". It seems as if there has been a similar post on the Cubot forum site. They (they being the Cubot rep) recommended that you contact the sales department:

cubot1018@cubot.net

However, if that is your work phone, as in if you got it from your work then you might be able to return it. Android has a great data migration platform, so your data shouldn't be an issue.

I'll have to speak with my manager and see what he says. Thanks for your help!
