I have a mini itx case lying around from my old build. I have a $550 usd budget and want an i5 and 16gb of ram. Corners can be cut in my case but the motherboard is something I'm stuck on because I don't have Ethernet at my house, so I need wifi, but money wasted on my mobo is taken from my gpu. Someon help me!

What are your current specs? what is your intended use? And what is the total budget for everything?

By you not "having Ethernet" in your house, do you mean you don't have an Ethernet cable or you somehow don't have a router with Ethernet ports? I'm interested.

Or more sensibly, he means ethernet isn't an option because of the relative locations of the computer and the router.

My router has Ethernet, but my desk is on a lower floor and I can't move it because of the design of my house.

The motherboard needs to be mITX and have wifi. At which point, Skylake is $1 more expensive (and the better buy).

Can't see a problem in distance between components. I have my very own Ethernet wire going through the floor :)
