WRT1200AC owners... I need some info!

flibberdipper

I'm looking into getting a WRT1200AC (as you probably guessed) to replace my WRT54GS. There's nothing wrong with my current router, other than the fact that network transfers are genuinely subpar and it's a bloody pain when I try to transfer huge files from one PC to another.

Now, I know that with my WRT54GS, I have to put it and switch mode and I end up losing an ethernet port because it won't work if the actual internet connection goes to the "internet" port for some retarded reason. Is this the same on the WRT1200AC?

Another question: Can I have it so that the router itself connects to the main router's wifi, and kinda bridges that to the ethernet, and perhaps even does the same to 5GHz (primary router is 2.4GHz)? Reason I'd do that is that my laptop would no longer be the middleman (which it would really like), and it would probably be a bit more stable (again if this is even possible).
