I would like to start a Vm server

I would like to be able to run the following:

A game server under linux (7 days to die)

freeNAS ( Network storage for the family) With Machine backup (Windows and IOS)

How do I set it up?

I was thinking

Isn't this esxi?

Yes ESXi is free, vCenter is the central management tool for managing multiple ESXi hosts. You still need to get a free license and apply it to the ESXi server and there are paid versions with extra features.

vSphere client is the legacy application used to connect either directly to an ESXi host or to vCenter, there are now website versions of both (running direct on the ESXi host or vCenter).

@leadeater Would you recommend installing ESXi on a small SSD or USB?

Since I have the SSD already can I use it to install ESXi and everything else on it, or it's better to have a separate physical drive from ESXi to VM?

Basically should I install ESXi on a flash drive or I can do it without any problem on that SSD?

I install mine on to a USB drive, nice and portable and keeps ESXi separate from VM storage.
