1070 vs 1080

So I have the money to get an i7 6700k with an 1070 or 1080 and I was wondering which one would be best for 1440p? I dont plan to upgrade for a very long time

Really depends on other specs... If you only have 8gb of memory, the money should go towards upgrading that. If you want more storage, that, and so on and so forth. Yes the 1080 will perform better, but some other things should take priority between the two.

I would choose 1070 because it's a better value for money; the 1080 costs 50% more but is only 25% faster. By the time the 1070 is not enough anymore, the 1080 will also probably not be enough, or it might last 6 months more tops. Use the saved $200 on a good PSU, Case, SSD, etc.

Here in canada, the 1070 is 569$ and the cheapest 1080 is 784$

1070 is a better value, but if you can afford it and want maximum 1440p performance, get the 1080.
