Help With router modem setup.

I recently bought a asus RT-AC68U and soon realized I made a big mistake.  The router can't connect to our Internet because it is not a all in one modem and router. (Rookie mistake)

 

We previously had  tg589vn v3 that we got with our line

 

Now my question is,  to make the rt-ac68u work,  should I just buy a modem and hook it up?

Not sure if Arris does DSL modems. I know it can be a challenge finding a modem by itself.  See if your ISP has a supported device list. I know mine does. This way you know what modems are compatible. 

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
