I have a GTX 1070 GPU (https://pcpartpicker.com/product/GGPzK8/asus-geforce-gtx-1070-8gb-video-card-rog-strix-gtx1070-8g-gaming) in my first ever pc build. This is my first ever build, and as a result its my first time ever seeing such high GPU temps, and it scares me. While playing Overwatch or BF1 my temps reach 50-60 degrees celcius, and the fans dont even start until around 50 degrees celcius. As a result of the fans not starting until that, Ive trusted it and its temps, but it still scares me seeing them climb. Is this bad in any way? Or is it completely normal?

50-60 c is perfectly normal for a gpu. and the fans not starting until 50 c is the 0 Db mode the Strix card can do, which is turn off the fans when the card is below a temperature or usage threshold (or you set one yourself).

i wouldn't start worrying until temps lurch over 80 c at any kind of loads.

up to 80c is absolutely fine...my GTX 980ti run at around 76c when overclocked...we own 8 nvidia quadro graphics cards at the office that have been running 87c for days week on ends and we have yet to seen one fail...don't worry about your graphics card temps...anything bellow 80c is way fine.

Lol I wouldn't look at the cpu temps then. You aren't gonna get much lower unless youre playing on a low res.

The card has a thermal threshold at 80ºC. If for some reason it does hit that thermal barrier it will downclock itself. At first it will lock at maximum non-boost clock which is something between 1500 and 1600Mhz. Later it will decrease the voltage sub 1.000V and the clock will fall accordingly.

You are safe, it won't burst into flames just because fans don't engage until 55ishºC
