Kick ass internet?

hardtofindinthefuture

Hi, we are moving into a new house

And im setting up the network

And i have some questions

1. is it a good idea to have a WIFI router for downstairs and upstairs

2. Can i run more Ethernet cables to a place that needs it most and combine them

3. Would it be better to

a. Run 1/2 Ethernet cables to another WIFI modem downstairs

b. Use the 2nd one as a WIFI repeater

Thanks :D

1. One router. If you want more AP's, get something like the unify system

2, Combine them you mean switch, then yes.

3.

a. Run one cable(id run 6 or 6a these days

b. Use unify ap's there cheap and much better.

Personally where do you use your wifi device the most and install on that level, if you use both level as much you are better off getting one strong AP if the house is not concrete and not too big.

Yes a 8+ port switch will do nicely, it depend how many Ethernet device you want to connect.

It would be better to use Ethernet cable to other access point than messing around with WiFi repeaters, as speed will be much better and connectivity will be far better in most use cases as it depend on the speed of your internet and your access point not the original WiFi which could be bog down by other inference.

I would use Unifiy AP as it allow seamless connect to another AP to another AP such as downstairs, basically connect you to stronger wifi.
