Bang for buck

Hi,

So I have decided to upgrade my htpc with a graphics card so I can do some gaming on it and maybe even use it as a LAN machine.

The specs right now are:
Gigabyte H77N Wifi
I3 2100
WD Green 2tb
Fractal Design Node 304
Noctua NH-L9i
Corsair CX 430M

So what do you think is the best bang for buck graphics card?
The budget is as cheap as possible. Under £70

7790 or 7770 is as low as i would go not sure on your price as i dont use that currency but im guess these cards are around that mark

Those are UK Pounds.

What about something like a 6870?

If you want a high end card, 7950/280x are awesome. Low end cards - 650 ti boost/ 660/ 660 ti/ 7850 are great lower end performers

For modern games under £70 GBP isn't quite cutting the butter so to write, GTX 660 ti was around £300 now is around £220 price bracket, also GTX 660 ti is still quite a great card for most titles not disclaiming it can't play triple AAA titles but not well.

 

GTX 650 Ti is more closer around £100

It wouldnt be that bad on 1080p would it?

Or if at a LAN then probably 1280x1024 :D

Shouldn't be unplayable at 1080p but if you can find a graphics card for cheap if you can spend £100 for a value oriented card it'll be worth a bit longer.

I was watching this video Skyrim 1080p on the basis of raw FPS @1080p resolution

Radeon 6000 series which is now 2 generations back now and Geforce 600 series only behind 1 generation

 

You could pickup a GTX 660 Ti off somewhere like ebay but not everyone likes second hand stuff

should have some overclocking headroom if you need it and only draws 80 watts, plenty of performance for 1080p depending on game and anti-aliasing.

the 6970 is around the 7850 performance, i think the 6870 would struggle to best the 7770, driver support has improved ridicously
